This page is an emergency feature of an "online catalog" that lists products that were selected to make Christmas more fun for the railroader in your life.

When I started Big Christmas Trains(tm) in the fall of 2004, it was all about helping people find appropriate gifts for fans of big trains and Christmas villages. I built countless links to vendors that I considered reliable, not realizing how many of them would run out of stuff halfway into December. So, in addition to maintaining the catalog pages, I spent an inordinate time tracking down replacement vendors for products I wanted to feature, rebuilding links, and so on. Several products became virtually unavailable within a five week period, and I had to drop one vendor for not being responsive to customer needs. So, it all turned into a tad more work than I originally expected. That said, it was mostly fun, and I'm glad so many people found their way here. I hope that you have all enjoyed paging through the "catalog" to see what was available, and if nothing else, that it has given you some great ideas for this or next Christmas season.

That said, I also realize that vendor links do fail, and some vendors have run out of products in the middle of the night. So it's entirely possible that a link you have checked out several times suddenly no longer works properly and my "helpful hints" about some product's features are nothing more than a reminder that you missed out. If that has happened to you, I apologize.

From about December 1 on, the ability to get trains you want will get worse before it gets better, no matter how helpful I try to be. For that reason, I'm giving you a free Christmas card you can download and print for peole whose gift won't be delivered in time for Christmas. About December 20 of each year, I also try to add additional vendor sites that I can't link to through my "catalog" pages. Hopefully you'll remember how helpful the "Big Christmas Trains" catalog was this year, and check it out earlier next year.

Finally, if you need some very specific product and can't find it anywhere, please e-mail me and I'll let you know if I can think of another place to look.

Christmas Gift Card for Missing Presents

Revisit the vendor page that describes the product you ordered, and print it out.
Download the Christmas Gift Card for Missing Presents. (680K) Print it at high resolution on a color printer on 24-pound or heavier acid-free paper. Fold it so that the "A Christmas Promise" page is on the front and the disclaimer and copyright information is on the back, and the inside of the card is on the inside.
Cut out the description part of the vendor page and stick it into an envelope with the card. The "correct" envelope size is a # 5 1/2 (They're also called "Invitation Envelopes and measure 4 3/8 by 5 1/4 - with so many people printing their own greeting cards, this size envelope has become more common.) If you can't find the correct size envelope, do your best. :-)
Congratulate yourself for thinking of this before Christmas actually got here.
